These beds run very small, and the best way we can describe it is like this... If you have an average size cat that is bold and adventurous, then the large will be perfect for you. It's the best size for taking instagram photos proportional to a cat.
For a slightly larger adult cat and upward, the XL size works best. Our foster cat seemed the perfect size for a large, but has territorial issues and preferred the little bit of extra space in an XL.
A medium would probably be perfect for a kitten. Anything under that than we're not talking cats anymore, so we wouldn't recommend a the small size unless you have a ferret or something.
But it's a Banana bed, so tell your friend with a ferret!
Important! These beds ship flat. When you receive one, shove a bed pillow into it then leave it like that overnight. It is made of memory foam so that will help keep it's banana shape for years! Or at least long enough for you to get all your instagram photos while your cat decides if they are going to go along with this whole thing or not!
Even if they don't, it's kind of like an art piece you don't mind just leaving on your floor. Trust us! Really cool product!
